Flossing & Super Floss
The orthodontic wire can prevent ordinary floss from reaching between teeth directly. A floss threader or pre-threaded orthodontic floss helps you pass beneath the wire.
Product Options
Regular floss with a separate threader
Oral-B Super Floss: a stiffened end, a spongy section, and regular floss
GUM EasyThread: another example of floss designed for access around dental appliances

Step-by-Step Flossing
Clean between teeth daily.
Pass the stiffened end or threader beneath the archwire without pulling on it.
Ease the floss through the tooth contact. Do not snap it into the gum.
Curve the regular floss around one tooth in a C shape and gently clean its side to the gumline, slightly beneath it as comfortable.
Repeat against the neighbouring tooth.
Use the spongy section gently around suitable appliance areas or wider spaces. Do not force a thick section through tight contacts.
Withdraw carefully and repeat between the remaining teeth, using a clean portion.
For fixed retainers or complex appliances, ask your team to demonstrate the correct threading route.

Common Mistakes
Cleaning beneath the wire but not between teeth
Snapping floss into gums
Pulling on brackets
Missing back teeth
