Mouthwash & Daily Oral Care

Mouthwash may supplement your routine when recommended. It cannot replace brushing or physical cleaning between teeth.

A Simple Daily Routine

  • Morning: Brush thoroughly with age-appropriate fluoride toothpaste.

  • During the Day: Rinse with water after food when brushing is unavailable.

  • Evening: Clean between teeth using the recommended method, then brush thoroughly before bed.

Mouthwash

  • If an alcohol-free fluoride rinse is recommended, use it at a separate time from brushing and follow its label.

  • Do not swallow mouthwash.

  • Suitability depends on age and the ability to spit reliably.

  • Chlorhexidine is for selected situations and should be used only as directed. Longer use can stain teeth and affect taste. Do not add extra products simply because braces are present; ask which ones are appropriate.

Continuing Care

Keep regular dental check-ups and professional cleaning appointments. Orthodontic visits do not replace routine dental care.

When to Seek Advice

Persistent gum bleeding, swelling, painful areas, or bad breath despite cleaning should be assessed.
